7. Conclusion
A.1 The precise meaning of שׁחרות has not been settled. In its present setting שׁחרות intensifies the significance of the preceding lexeme ילדות, ‘youth’, to which it is syndetically joined. The most viable explanation to date is that שׁחרות comes from the Heb. root שׁחר ‘black’ and stands for a youth’s glowing black hair.
